The original part of the Cyferfontein homestead dates back to 1880. It is one of the few homes
not to have been burned down during the Anglo-Boer War as the first owner, Mr J.P.Hartman,
was married to an English lady and eldest daughter of a Mr & Mrs W.Butler from the 1820 British Settlers.
The farm was later bought from the Hartman family in 1946 by our grandfather, Jan Adriaan Griesel.
We are now the third generation to call this home and strive to preserve the farm that we have come
to know and love, as a heritage for our children.
